It’s been a few weeks, but better late than never: Version 0.3.0 of Legends of Arthengard has been live since April 21st – on the website, the App Store, and Google Play.
If you read the last DevLog, you already know that the centerpiece of this update is the new quest system. And that’s exactly what we delivered. Players can now take on solo quests – either item quests that require gathering specific resources, or combat quests that pit you against monsters. The twist: rewards are negotiable. Negotiate well, and you walk away with more.
But quests aren’t just a solo affair. Starting May 12th, the first city-wide quest events will go live, requiring the entire community to work together. This is the part of the quest system I’m personally most excited about – seeing how cities organize themselves and whether they can rise to the challenge.
Speaking of challenge: Arthengard has gotten noticeably harder. The difficulty factor has been increased by 2.5x. At the same time, your citizens now consume food dynamically, which means supply management is no longer optional – baking bread and cooking vegetables is a survival strategy, not a side job. The current food situation is displayed directly in the city view so you can keep an eye on your supplies at all times.
The combat engine also received an upgrade: after a combat phase, there’s now an additional potion phase where potions can be used. This gives you more tactical control in longer fights.
On top of that, 0.3.0 brings a whole range of quality-of-life improvements – from info tooltips to color-coded activity feeds to icons on farming jobs and dungeons, making the overall experience more intuitive and comfortable. The full changelog is attached below.
What’s Next?
After the feature scope of recent updates, I’m now deliberately shifting gears. There won’t be any major new game mechanics until the end of the year. Instead, the focus is on optimization and balancing – the game should feel smooth and fair, regardless of city size. Of course, there will also be more quest events rolling out regularly to keep things fresh across all cities.
I’m also working on an in-game wiki that will explain game mechanics, items, and systems directly within the game. This should make it much easier for new players to get up to speed.
