Legends of Arthengard & ME/CFS

Why This Game Is Different

I'm developing Legends of Arthengard – a cooperative MMORPG that brings streamers and their community together. You may have noticed the blue ribbon in the logo. It stands for ME/CFS, a severe neurological disease that has changed my life since July 2022.

This text is not an apology. Not a fundraising appeal. It's an explanation of why this game is being developed differently – and why that's a good thing.

What is ME/CFS?

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), also called Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), is not tiredness. It's a complex neurological disease that affects 17–30 million people worldwide (WHO). But few people know what that really means.

The harsh reality:

⚡ Post-Exertional Malaise (PEM)

Even minimal exertion – a walk, a longer conversation – can lead to days-long "crashes." Like an electric shock that paralyzes the body.

🧠 Cognitive Impairment

My brain works like an overloaded computer. Concentration? Multitasking? Often impossible.

👁️ Invisible, but real

From the outside, you see nothing. But my daily life consists of planning, prioritizing, and breaks – not out of laziness, but out of necessity.

"Imagine your battery never charges above 20%. And even opening an app drains it."

The Financial Reality: Why LOA?

I was a marketing freelancer. Until my body said: Stop. No safety net. No disability pension. Just one question: What now?

The answer: Legends of Arthengard.

🎮 Occupational Therapy

This project keeps me mentally active – on the days when it's possible.

⏰ Flexibility

I work when I can. Not according to a schedule, but according to energy.

💬 Transparency

If an update takes longer, it's not due to lack of will, but physical limitations.

What the Blue Ribbon Means

I don't want pity. But I want you to understand:

This game is being created despite ME/CFS – not because I "pull myself together," but because I respect my limits.

The blue ribbon stands for millions of people who, like me, are fighting – often invisible, rarely taken seriously.

Legends of Arthengard is my way of creating something despite everything. Something that connects community. Something that lasts.
