There Will Be No Update 0.4.0

Yes, you read that right. The 0.4.0 update that I hyped up as a massive milestone in the last patch is never going to happen the way I announced it. But before anyone panics: this is not bad news. Quite the opposite.

Originally, 0.4.0 was planned as THE PVP update, set to arrive in autumn. While working on it, though, it became more and more obvious how much more was hiding in there beyond just PVP. The new, bigger server, a lot more capacity for streamers, and a complete overhaul of the game architecture. Way too good to keep sitting behind the PVP part.

So I made a decision: the PVP part stays in autumn, but I’m pulling everything else forward. That means you don’t have to wait until autumn to enjoy the bigger server and the new architecture.

What that actually means: there’s still a gatekeeper that checks whether the server can handle a given streamer. But with the new server, the capacity is much larger than before, so a lot more cities will find a home.

And because this is such a big step for the development of Arthengard, I’ve decided to skip 0.4.0 entirely and jump straight to 0.5.0. For me, this marks the halfway point of development, the midway celebration if you will. That turns the PVP update into 0.6.0, which is still planned for autumn.

When does it go live?

The 0.5.0 update releases on the morning of July 22nd. To make it happen, I’ll be taking the server offline for a short while. So don’t be surprised if Arthengard is unreachable for a moment. Take a breather, and then it’s back with fresh content.

What exactly is packed into 0.5.0? You’ll find out on July 22nd in the full changelog. Look forward to it, it’ll be worth your while.
